# Connect a Digital Scale

## There is a free tool available for connecting a digital scale to PantrySoft. When you weigh the item, the number is entered into the field without typing.

There is a nifty piece of software available at [https://www.232key.com/](https://www.232key.com/). This lets you hook up almost any digital scale to your computer. When you place an item on the scale, it will send the weight to the computer when the scale settles, or when you push the button on the scale.

On the computer, the weight entry is seen as keyboard input. It works pretty much the same as a barcode scanner.

If you have an inventory item called "Pound of Food," you can click into the quantity field, weigh the item, and the quantity will update with the value from the scale.

We have tested this software in the office with a small lab scale, and it worked exactly as described. Please refer to the 232key website for more details.
