Special SMS Changes

Prior Situation:
Up until now, while you may have been paying for Bulk SMS messages (from the Dynamic Report screens), not all SMS Appointment and Order Notification messages were being charged. Also, when a particular send went over the character limit (causing multiple messages), we were only charging for the one send, and not each message.
Going Forward:
  • All SMS sends— Bulk or Notification— will be charged to your messaging account. ($0.02 per message)
  • If an SMS send goes over the SMS character limit (160 characters), creating multiple messages, your messaging account will be charged for every message.
  • Based on new DLC10 regulatory requirements, every SMS send must include a help and cancellation method. This means we append “Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for Help.” These characters count towards the limit.
  • Client replies and our subsequent responses are not billed to your account.
Transition Funds:
To ease this transition, we've credited your messaging account with some funds to create a buffer; for a while SMS Notifications and Reminders will still occur without requiring any immediate payments.
Message Management:
Additionally, you'll now have improved tools for monitoring those funds as they're used. Just go to Setup->Message Management to monitor your usage and remaining sends.
You will also have a new Additional Role for Users— Message Notification— that you can assign to administrative users to receive notifications regarding the status of your SMS account.
