Ticket Printing Issues

This is a list of frequently asked questions, and as such it is a work in progress:

Problems and Solutions

Connecting A Printer

PantrySoft staff can try to help you fix your printing issues only after you've successfully performed the following test-procedure:

  1. Bring up a Web Page in Your Browser
  2. Print the Web Page

Unfortunately, if you're having trouble performing the test above, your problem is a local IT issue, and you should find someone to help you get your printer working.

Which printer should I buy?

Ours is a browser app, so most of the communication between a reasonably modern computer (running PantrySoft in a supported browser) and a modern printer should be plug-and play, handled through the OS. If you make sure your online search for a printer mentions the specs you've decided you need (for instance a wireless connection), you should be good to go.

PantrySoft aside, Apple devises are often incompatible with printers that do not specifically list Apple OS compatibility in their specifications.

Stay tuned for when we roll out an upcoming PantrySoft forum, as this would be a model question to ask your fellow PantrySoft customers.

Margins Too Wide or Narrow

  • If your ticket prints via pdf instead of directly to the printer, you can adjust the margins on the pdf directly in the app with the following configurations found under Setup->Visit Settings:
  • Try adjusting your printer settings. Adjust your margin settings or try adjusting the zoom percentage to smaller than 100%

Ticket Won't Print

Scenario 1: A pdf form of the ticket does not pop up in a new tab or window.

Check to make sure your browser allows pop-ups from our site. If pop-ups are enabled and this problem persists, contact us.

Scenario 2: You click on the print icon, a pdf does appear, but the printer doesn't respond.

This suggests the issue is hardware related. We recommend that you prepare answers to the following questions when speaking either to us on this issue, or instead to your IT person:

  • What happens when you try to print in general? Are there any visible error messages from the app, your browser, or your operating system?
  • Access the printer queue and status on your operating system. For Windows, right-click on the printer icon in your taskbar. Is the ticket document there? If so, is there a specific status message associated with the print-job?
